Had it many times over the years.. yes the clip is what goes first but it’s spring loaded.. to be expected.. mine last about two years so I just replace it
Rick –

These holsters are the most practical to use for me and for my staff. So we pretty much only use these at work. At the same time, the top clip part seems to be a weak design and breaks faster than I’d like it to. On average, one of these holsters will last about 4 months. With the lifetime warranty, I get a free replacement once, which extends the average lifetime to 8 months.

Love the clip & loved you replaced it after it broke.

This is a very practical case and I’ve been using this style for over 10 years. For various phone model, I always get this stile. Nicely protects the phone against most drops, and I can easily grab the phone out of the case when needed.
